Educational Scholarship
The Laguna Mountain Volunteer Association (LMVA) is awarding our
annual $1000.00 Educational Scholarship to an outstanding student
in San Diego County.
Eligibility:
1.
Be a high school student in your senior year or a
continuing student actively pursuing a college degree.
2.
Are planning to attend a community
college or university in the fall of 2025.
3.
Must have proof of current registration.
4.
Have a minimum grade point average
of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. (Need to submit transcript)
5.
Need two letters of recommendation, one from a teacher
and one from an adult who has known you
for several years, not a family member.
6.
You must submit one 500-word essay to include:
Reason for attending college, the lifetime values you hope
to receive by attending college, what you would like to choose
as your major and why and where you would like to see yourself in
5 years regarding education and job opportunities.
7.
You must submit a second 500-word essay to include
The Importance of Volunteer Work in National Parks and Forests
and/or The Value of Land Preservation for Public Use on Federal Lands.
8.
Be advised: Plagiarism checks will be done.
No names on essays please; only on Application form.
All essays will be assigned a number and judged by an impartial committee.
Essays must be typed, APA font style or format.
Format for Essays:
I Title
II Introduction Paragraph
III Body Paragraph
IV Conclusion Paragraph
Spelling and Grammar will count.
Deadline for submission is May 31, 2025.
ALL DOCUMENTATION WILL BE VERIFIED.
Recipient will be notified by June 16, 2025.
A check will be presented at an Award Ceremony or sent by certified mail.
